Downtown Advisory Committee

Length of term:
Three year terms with no limitation on re-appointments.
Meetings:
Monthly meetings beginning at 8 a.m. at Longview City Hall on the first Monday of the month.
Composition of Members:
Each member of said committee shall be a resident of the city of Longview, or shall own/manage or operate a business within the Downtown Commerce district of the city. Business and property entities shall, at all times, comprise a majority of the total membership. In the selection of committee members, each member shall be designated as meeting one of the following qualifications for membership.
Business and Property Entities:
- Business Owners/Operators: At least 2 members shall be owners or operators of businesses in the Downtown Commerce district of the city.
- Property Owners: At least 2 members shall be the owners of real property in the Downtown Commerce district of the city.
At-large Entities:
- Regular Shoppers/Purchasers: At least 1 member shall be a regular purchaser of services or merchandise from businesses located in the Downtown Commerce district of the city.
- Business Employees: At least 1 member shall be an employee of businesses located in the Downtown Commerce district of the city.
- Resident In Downtown: At least 1 member shall be a resident of a residential housing unit located in the Downtown Commerce district of the city.
- Youth Member: At least 1 member (youth member) shall be and remain during their tenure a full-time student at a high school or community college situated within the city of Longview.
Responsibilities:
Serves as the primary group to recommend implementation of the strategies and goals that are described in the Longview Downtown Plan. Encourages, conducts, sponsors, or co-sponsors, for the benefit of the city, public programs to further the development and public awareness of, interest in, and to enhance the economic vitality of the Downtown Commerce District area of the city.
