Historic Preservation Commission
Appointed By: City Manager
Length of term: Appointments are for a three-year period, with staggered terms.
Meetings: Fourth Thursday of each month (to coincide with City Council Meetings) at 5:30 p.m. in the small conference room at Longview City Hall.
Duties:
Identifies and actively encourages the conservation of the city’s historic resources by initiating and maintaining a register of historic places and reviewing proposed changes to register properties. Raises community awareness of the city’s history and historic resources, and serve as the city’s primary resource in matters of history, historic planning, and preservation. Conducts and maintains a comprehensive inventory of historic resources within the boundaries of the city known as the Longview historic inventory.
