Nuisance Abatement

Common concerns that are subject to abatement are tall grass, noxious weeds, junk vehicles, and unconfined garbage on private property only.  A complaint to this office at 360.442.5082 will initiate an inspection which may result in the issuance of an abatement notice.

Failure to abate a nuisance once an abatement notice has been issued can result in the issuance of a civil infraction. The public nuisance ordinance is found in LMC Chapter 10.22.  Please note that our abatement officer only deals with issues on private property.  Please refer inquiries about nuisances in the public right-of-way to the appropriate departments listed below.
