Code Compliance

Common concerns that are subject to enforcement action by the Code Compliance Department are tall grass, noxious weeds, junk, inoperable/junk vehicles, and improperly stored materials on private property.  A complaint to this office at 360.442.5093 or 360.442.5082 will initiate an inspection which may result in the issuance of an abatement notice. The Code Compliance Department’s office hours are Monday – Thursday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm

Failure to abate a nuisance once a notice has been issued can result in the issuance of a second notice containing civil fines in the amount of $500.00 per violation per LMC 1.33. The Longview Property Maintenance Code is found in LMC Chapter 16.30.  Please note that our code compliance inspectors only respond to issues on private property.  Please refer inquiries about nuisances in the public right-of-way to the appropriate departments as listed below or as found in the FAQ’s section in the “Ask Longview” area of this website.
