LENGTH OF TERM
Appointments are for a 3-year period, with staggered terms.
MEETINGS
3rd Thursday of each month from 6 PM - 7:30 PM in the small conference room at City Hall.
DUTIES
The major responsibility of the Commission is to identify and actively encourage the conservation of the citys historic resources by initiating and maintaining a register of historic places and reviewing proposed changes to register properties. It also raises community awareness of the citys history and historic resources, and serves as the citys primary resource in matters of history, historic planning, and preservation.
WHAT THEY ACCOMPLISH
Within the boundaries of the city, conduct and maintain a comprehensive inventory of historic resources known as the Longview historic inventory.
