October 25 City Council Meeting in brief
• Issued a proclamation for Keeping The Lights On After School – October 25, 2018.
• Presented awards of appreciation sponsors of Movies at the Lake – Fibre Federal Credit Union; Comcast; Biocoastal Media; and The Peak 98.3 FM.
• Ordinance No. 3389 establishing a 15-minute time limit for two parking spaces on the Civic Circle in front of the Monticello Hotel failed due to the lack of a motion.
• Voted to oppose Initiative-940 that would establish new standards and requirements for law enforcement.
• Awarded a contract in the amount of $3,480,776.80 to J.H. Kelley to construct a new transit center in downtown Longview.
• Approved a collective bargaining agreement with the Longview Police Support Guild for 2019 – 2021.
• Set public hearings for the special city council meetings on November 15 and December 6 to consider the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget and the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Program.
• A request to install diagonal parking on the east side of 18th Avenue between Washington Way and Olympia Way failed due to the lack of a motion.
