Emergency Water Main Replacement Project Update
Posted Date: 1/14/2014
Advanced Excavating Specialists (AES) has finished installation of all new 12-inch water main along Beech Street between 14th and 20th Avenue and all new 8-inch main in the alley between 16th and 17th Avenue from Beech to Nichols. Final tie-ins to connect the new 12-inch main at each alley on the south side of Beech Street is underway to complete all waterline work. All customer connections on both new mains have already been switched over, tested, disinfected and placed in service. Remaining work includes installation of hydrants, pavement repairs, clean-up and final restoration. This work is currently underway and expected to be complete in early March 2014, dependent upon weather conditions.

Intermittent lane closures should be expected in the area over the next several weeks, beginning with pavement repairs starting next week on Oregon Way and followed by restoration of the median on Beech Street in late January. Hydrant work continues along Baltimore and on Cypress between 16th and 17th Avenues but the alley is currently open. Local access to the alley will be temporarily restricted and driveways blocked once pavement restoration begins in early February. AES will work with residents individually to minimize impacts and coordinate garbage / recycling pick-up to prevent any disruption in service. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
