    The Boulevard

    The Boulevard is a safe, supervised, drug, tobacco, and alcohol free drop-in program for Longview Middle and High School Teens that offers pool tables, foosball, air hockey, x-box, secure high-speed internet accessible computer lab, movies, snacks, and much more! A fun activity is planned each day. Current student I.D. required.

    Late Night

    Do you find yourself saying that there is nothing to do on Friday nights? We have the answer. Come down and be part of the excitement. The Late Night Program at the YMCA provides a safe, drug, tobacco, and alcohol free environment where there is a multitude of recreational opportunities available FREE for Longview Middle and High School teens! Our fully staffed activities facilitate positive social interaction. Includes basketball, X-Box 360, swimming,
    racquetball, movies, and pizza. CURRENT STUDENT I.D. Required!!

    Birthday Bash Party Package

    Let us help you with your teen’s next birthday party! Parties are held on Saturdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Boulevard Teen Center, 2121 Kessler Blvd on Lake Sacajawea. Please call to reserve the date at least two weeks in advance. The nonrefundable fee is due at the time the party is scheduled. Call 442-5400 to schedule your party today!

    Babysitters Training

    American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training gives 11-15 year olds the skills and confidence they need to become great babysitters. This 7 hour class covers training in care giving, decision making, safety and first aid skills, as we’re preventing and responding to emergencies. Course participants receive ‘The Babysitter’s Training Handbook,’ which provides course review and 30 easy-tofollow first aid action plans for handling emergencies.

    Hip Hop

    You want to learn to Hip Hop? We will show you current dance moves to some of today’s hottest tunes. This class is for dancers with little or no experience in Hip Hop. Performance dates TBA by instructor.

    Cheerleading Conditioning

    Whether you are already a cheerleader wanting to improve your technique, or want to prepare for upcoming tryouts, this class is for you. Learn techniques to improve flexibility, jumps, motions, and dances.

    Archery

    Participants in this class will learn the fundamentals of archery, including form, shooting, and proper care and handling of archery equipment. Participants will have ample time to practice their techniques on Bob’s indoor archery range. Co-sponsored by professionals at Bob’s Merchandise and Outdoor store. Long Bows provided. Do not bring compound archery equipment please.

    Basketball Tournament

    This single elimination 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be set up with separate divisions for Longview Middle and High School Students. This will be a half court format and in concurrence with Teen Late Night. Prizes will be given out to the top placing teams.

    Events & Trips


    Overnight Lock-In

    Enjoy an action packed Halloween night with us!! You will start your night by attending the Teen Late Night Halloween Bash and Dance at the YMCA. Lock-in participants will get some VIP treatment at the dance. After the Dance Ends at 12:15, Recreation Staff will escort participants to the Elks Building for numerous activities, games, movies, prizes, and a whole lot of fun. Bring comfy clothes, a pillow, and sleeping bag.

    Guitar Hero Tournament

    Do you call yourself an expert at laying down the chords on a game of Guitar Hero? Show us! We have Guitar Hero III ‘Legends of Rock’ on the X-box 360 and want to find out who is the best at their craft. This is a single elimination ‘duel type’ tournament. Last gamer standing takes home a computer. Door prizes also awarded to all registrants. Limited spots available.

    Late Night Halloween Bash

    Halloween falls on Late Night this year!! That means we will be hosting a dance and scary activities for teens on the same night. Come to Late Night in your best costume. We will have judges to give away prizes in several costume categories. Pizza and punch will be in the back gym. Free to Longview Middle and High School Students with current student I.D.

    Step Up To Health Fun Run

    This run is a non-competitive event for all local middle school students. A great opportunity to enjoy the lake with your friends while getting some exercise! Grade levels will run separately. No registration needed, just show up!

    Multnomah Falls/Angel’s Rest Hike

    Let’s get out and stretch our legs. Multnomah Falls is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Oregon. A short easy roundtrip hike to explore this natural wonder will start our day. Then we will go to a nearby steeper hike up to Angels Rest overlooking the picturesque Columbia River Gorge. This hike is a little more challenging, but the reward will be worth the effort.

    Hiking at Ape Caves

    Have you ever been Spelunking?? Do you want to try it? Spend time away from everyday sight, sounds and stresses and join an outdoor adventure with the experienced recreation staff exploring the Ape Cave near Mt. St. Helens. Transportation, permits, and activities are included; bring a lunch and water.

    Leadership


    Junior Leadership Program

    Junior Leadership Program is a great opportunity for Longview Middle and High School teens to gain quality skills and experience. The program includes an orientation and training, then placement in a leadership role at a recreation program and/or community project. Junior leaders are also required to attend bi-monthly meetings where they will help develop and implement service learning projects within the community. Applications are due by September 15th and can be picked up at the Recreation Office which is located at 2920 Douglas Street in Longview. Call 442-5400 for more information.
