Traffic Division

The mission of the Traffic Division is to operate and maintain the City's traffic system in a manner that is sensitive to community concerns, minimizes accidents, and provides for the efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The division plans, promotes, and implements improvements to City streets; installs, maintains, and operates traffic control devices and street lighting; and, reviews private development to ensure it promotes traffic safety and efficiency.

Traffic Engineering ensures the safe and efficient flow of traffic by overseeing traffic signals, traffic signs and markings, and also designs traffic signals and signal systems. This includes the operation of approximately 75 traffic signals. Traffic Engineering monitors crash and traffic data to determine the need for improved signal timings and operations.
